Hospitals - YUCK!

I still owe you all more cruise info and I promise to deliver at some point, but things have been crazy lately and I figured I should let all and sundry know.

My grandmother, Mutti (mom's side) went into the hospital on Thursday. She's out now, so it's all good. She had pneumonia and needed to be hospitalized for awhile. My mom stayed with Poppop to keep an eye on him and when she needed to run errands, I hung out with him. My grandfather has Alzheimers. Mom said the level of vigiliance is similar to that of dealing with a toddler (she's right) but the response is different. Anyway - they gave her anitbiotics, she's good and is home.

My dad had surgery today for a torn rotator cuff. The doctors fixed the issue but when he was done with surgery his oxygen levels didn't come back to where they should be. I'm waiting by the phone to find out if they're going to admit him to the hospital or if the issue will correct itself once his anesthesia wears off (which is what Dar thinks will happen).

I'm also on pins and needles waiting to hear if my cousin's wife has gone into labor. Katie - I'm thinking of ya!

Personally, I'm sick and have been unable to kick the cold that's been plaging me since we got back from the cruise. Ken's working crazy hours and I've actually got tons of work I should be doing instead of blogging.

Kieran did WONDERFUL tonight. We've been hit with the terrible twos pretty big. Some of that is our own fault. With the cruise, his birthday and then him being sick he's gotten nearly unlimited TV for the past few weeks. Yeah, I put an end to that tonight. He whined a little bit when I told him there would be no TV tonight. When he realized I wasn't going to cave he redirected to playing with Ochi and then Play-Doh. Everything else went smoothly and he actually kicked me out of his room 15 minutes early because he was ready for bed.

OK enough procrastinating, I'm getting back to work. Love to all, blog again soon.

Cruise Pics!

First stop was Turks and Caicos. Kieran was a bit leery of the water but warmed up to throwing stones and shells into it.

Our second stop was San Juan. Kieran, Ken, Zadie and I walked around the city. This is Kieran on the ship looking over the port. Dar got to ride horses there and Andy and the crew did a bus tour of the city.

After that was Coki Beach in St Thomas. I seriously considered running away here and making my living by delivering food and drinks to the people on the beach. Maybe that'll be my retirement plan.

Final stop was the cruise line's private island. They had a little play area for the kids with water slides so of course we needed to check it out. Kieran had a great time and I got sunburned here.

Next set of photos will be stuff on the ship with details of the on ship days. A wonderful time - do wish we had more time with Dad and Dar, but they got the Bubonic plague or something. They're doing better now and everyone is all excited about Sunday's big game.

Oh and one more thing.... Kieran is 2! Happy Birthday Kieran!!!! OMG my Little Boy is 2!

Back to Reality

*sigh*

Well, we're back. Had a phenomenal time with everyone on the cruise. I'll post photos later but I'll give a quick rundown of the vacay right now. (I'm working from a computer without the photos but I do promise to upload them soon - we'll also post them to shutterfly and send them out from there as well).

Our first flight went great - Kieran didn't cry once. He was not afraid of the noise or the flight, he sat still for most of it. That kicked off a wonderful week. The downside? Not as much time with Bubbie and Zadie as we would have liked - they got sick and quarantined (each for a full 24hrs). So we'll just have to make up that time during the year.

The first day on ship we mostly just walked around, had a good long nap and played with some of the new toys that we bought (Color Wonder is just da bomb for travelling). The next day we were in Turks and Caicos - basically a beach for the ships. He was a little afraid of the water but had fun anyway. The rest of the trip... well I think I'd better save some for the posts with photos - needless to say we had a wonderful time and despite the sunburn I'd do it all over again.

I think my favorite part was having dinner every night with (nearly) everyone. It was sweet to see all the kids and everyone altogether just having fun and talking about their day. Next time we'll have to figure out a way that no one gets sick (and Kieran can have his own bed).

Promise I'll explain and blog it all with photos later.
